What people are saying

  • Condé Nast Traveler by Maresa Manara (2018) names this one of The 30 Best Restaurants in Rome and says that “walking into Settimio al Pellegrino feels a bit like stepping into Rome’s golden dolce vita heyday; there are a handful of tables, a couple of Roman posters on the walls, and a tiny kitchen where owner Teresa stirs vats of pasta as Mario, her husband, ferries orders back and forth. Crowd-wise, it’s all regulars, many of whom have been coming here since they were children. Now they bring their children’s children.”
  • Katie Parla (2016) warns that at Settimio “warmth isn’t doled out frivolously. Warmth is earned. If you turn up without a reservation, there’s a real chance you will be sent away, whether they are booked up or not… and even calling to reserve well in advance doesn’t guarantee a table.” She says a lot of nice things about the food but adds that “Second only to the struggle of winning the owners’ affection is the wines, which range from undrinkable to painfully undrinkable.”
